Grad School - 5th Year Urban Design Project
The 5th Year Urban Design class created a master plan for the city of Pena Blanca, Honduras, specifically for the Pan American Health Service (PAHS) located near Lake Yojoa. Founded by Dr. Stephen Youngberg, PAHS is a Christian non-profit organization that provides education, shelter, and medical assistance to underprivileged children. Today, daughter of Dr. Youngberg and her son Stephen are sunning the facility. They’ve asked our class for help in creating their vision for their campus as well as the town of Pena Blanca. The master plan includes municipal, commercial and housing buildings as well as recreational development.
5th Year - Bayview Tiny House
As part of our graduate school curriculum, our class was assigned to design and build a tiny house. The Bayview Tiny house team decided to design a house that provided adequate living spaces as much as possible, suitable for anyone interested. Design of the mobile home includes a kitchenette, bathroom, lofts, and seating areas.
4th Year - The Encore Project
The Encore Project is a collaboration of music performance spaces, restaurants, retail and housing based on Jazz music. In the 1920’s the city of Benton Harbor was beaming with excitement and activity which made the city one of many tourist attractions during this time. Generally speaking, Benton Harbor today is not what it used to be. To aid in moving Benton Harbor into the direction of becoming an attraction not only for tourists but for the people of Benton Harbor, the Encore Project is based on the idea of reconnection and reminding the citizens of Benton Harbor how they once were during their most prosperous time, the Jazz era.
